Kraft Girl love

Greetings from beautiful Ireland. Even thought I'm away from home, I planned ahead :)
It's the first of the month, and you know what that means! Reveal time at Kraft Girl Kits! This month's kit was very elegant with so many pretty elements with goodies from Basic Grey, Crate Paper, Scenic Route and Maya Road. My favorite has to be the butterfly - sooooooo pretty! Those stick pins were a pretty close second though!I've been meaning to do a layout about himself and myself :) but we hardly ever get photos of us together. I think I collected them last year (ALL of them), with just the two of us, not counting our wedding day. The grand total, since we met, came to 5. Shocking - right? So I cherish any new photos of us. This one isn't really great so I converted it to black and white. I don't usually do B&W but I like it here - I also used Katie Pertiet's Letter Box photo masks on the photo too - that gives it the distressed edge and the post mark.

I'm still on my hybrid kick - this time I used Katie's Photoclusters no 17 to showcase photos from my trip to Canada for CSCFK back in October of 2007 (gasp, has it been that long?). I'm thrilled to have finally scrapped them. Oh I used Pattie Knox's Text Byte no 1 to put my journaling in a semi circle. Oh and there's that punch again :oAnd finally, I used a photo that I found while making that birthday book for my dad (which he loved by the way!). Check out my expression - ever and always Daddy's girl :) I made my butterflies using the Spellbinder's butterfly die - I'm becomming addicted to die cutting!

Reminiscing...

Check me out in 1974. How cute am I? I just love looking back at old photos and I love it even more when I have an incentive to scrap them. I did this layout for the Heritage Challenge at Designer Digitals - can you believe that heritage now includes the 1970s? Shocking!

I'm sure when I ask my mother she will have a good explanation as to why I am wearing two different dresses during the course of the party. There must be a very good reason ;)

Some news for Kraft Girl kit fans -- Pam is having a design team call. I LOVE being on the KGK team and I'm thrilled to be staying for another term! You can get all the details of the call here. The call ends July 10th so go get your entry in!

Michelle Houghton's doodling class started Monday at Get It Scrapped but you can check out her free warm-up doodling class to see what's it's like. She walks you through the techniques so you'll be doodling like a pro in no time!

Finally, I will leave you with a litte Core'dinations. I mentioned before that I'm liking those EK Success punches, didn't I? Perhaps I went a little overboard with this one ;) And hey, I finally used some American Crafts flair! Go me!
This was taken almost 2 years ago now - where does the time go?

Use it or lose it...

That was my challenge this week for the How Much Is Too Much blog. I challenged people to take 20 items out of their stash and to use it on their layout or purge. I actually ended up using 20 items on my layout and purging tons of stuff in the process! I really dug deep into my stash for old patterned paper -- some ancient KI (love that stuff) and my all time favorite Scenic Route (the word paper)
I also used one of Pattie Knox's text bytes (#21) for my journaling - I like how that shape looks and balances the layout.

My latest review is up at The Scrap Review also - this time I reviewed the new EK Success slim punches. They were a lot of fun and I can see that I would be using them a lot in the future. Here are a few cards I made using the Zig Zag stitch punch, some Core'dinations and some Piggy Tales patterned papers and rubons.

Oh and before I forget -- I'm chatting tonight at Get It Scrapped. It's my monthly chat on Inspiration. This time I'm joined by Get It Scrapped teacher Michelle Houghton who is currently teaching the Oodles of Doodles class. She does some pretty cool stuff. Tonight we're going to talk about Art as our inspiration.

And finally, I'm going to wrap up with my latest hybrid challenge - cards. Apparently I'm getting into cards lately - yeah, I'm as shocked as you about that!! :o I'm getting head start on Father's Day (no peeking Dad!):

Used some of my favorite colors here - can't go too far wrong with green and blue - am I right? :)

Your Life, Captured Through The Lens

Ever wanted to learn how to use your camera? I mean really USE it, learn how to compose interesting photographs and finally know what all those buttons and knobs are on your camera? You do? Me too! The awesomely talented Katrina Kennedy is going to be teaching a photography class at Get It Scrapped and it will cover all of those topics.

You can learn more about the specifics at the class details page. Katrina is the admin for the Designer Digitals photo-a-day flickr group and she takes the most amazing photos. You can see lots of examples of her work in her Designer Digitals gallery.

If you are interested in getting to know Katrina a little bit, she is hosting a chat tomorrow night (that's this Thursday, June 4th) at Get It Scrapped at 9pm EST on "what inspires you?" You'll need to sign up for the chat room ahead of time but it's free to all.

But wait, there's more! Katrina has generously offered me a class pass to giveaway. How cool is that! Just post a comment on this post for a chance to win. I'll use random.org to generate a winner on Sunday evening. Good luck!

D'oh! June 1st!

I can't believe half the day has gone by and I've only now realized that it is June 1st! Lots of things going on today - reveal day at Kraft Girl kits, the start of the week long raffle at The Scrap Review, and the launch of write.click.scrapbook. You MUST go check them all out!

Here are my KGK layouts for this month -
I had those photos printed out for months but never figured out how to scrap them until I got this kit and bingo! they got scrapped almost immediately. Isn't that strange? I just love that Basic Grey paper - circles are so much fun :)

I'll have to admit that I sighed when I saw the Jenni Bowlin shaped paper in this kit. You see, I find die cut shaped paper very challenging but I loved how this turned out. I LOVE that orange paper - isn't it fun? And it's always a bonus to get photos scrapped so soon after an event -- this was from our duck tour around Boston a couple of weeks ago. Good times.

I rarely do enlargements, I'm more a fan of white space, but this picture really needed to be big in order to get the full effect of the crazy dragon head and the two little girls. This was another photo that I printed out months ago (last November if I remember correctly!) and it was sitting on my desk until now. I love how it looks with this paper. Check it out -- I pleated ribbon a la Mle!Finally a card - I apologize for the bluriness, I'm not sure what happened. I was inspired a Stampin Up stamp that I have that said "best fishes". I always thought that was funny and when I saw this Cosmo Cricket paper I decided to use that idea on a card.
That's all from me for now. I've got to start working on my next review for The Scrap Review -- here's a little hint -- it's on certain punches. Stay tuned!
